H-Mart

Wow - two postings in one week! This morning, Tim, Steph, Heather and Sara had an eye opening trip to H-Mart - the Asian supermarket in Catonsville. Super cheap and amazing produce. Every kind of exotic fruit and vegetable you can imagine (well, I'll have to take better notes next time - and there will be a next time! So why did I only end up with tomatoes? Slight exaggeration. I did try purple potatoes and sugar watermelon too. Will have to do something creative with them one of these days. Every aisle was a mix of items you would find in a regular grocery store (toaster strudel?) and great and unique items from all over Asia. Tim wins the award for most creative shopping. Live crabs? Which then sat in the car during lunch. Hope none of them got away!

We will have to go back to get a whole fish for dinner (anyone up for trying to cook whole fish with me?) and bi bim bop and/or udon soup. Yum.

Instead, we went to #1 Pho for lunch. Can't go wrong with yummy Vietnamese soup.

On its last breath

OK - so the foodie challenge isn't dead - but it may be on its last breath! Heather and I are determined to revive it. And, I'll bet we can knock a lot out this summer. Who knows - maybe even knock some out this weekend!! Who's with us?

So, let's recap where we are as a team. Others have done some on their own, but as a group we are not even doing so badly. Here are some of the events where at least two people have participated.

#3 - Bertha's Mussels - Very fun night with Heather, Doug, Tim & Sara. Despite the bartender trying to steer us differently, we decided to try one with olive oil instead of the usual butter. And, unanimously we all loved the olive oil one best! Tip for next time.

#4 - Natty Boh - part of the kickoff celebration (and never again?!?)

#5 - Berger's Cookie - part of the kickoff celebration (and often again!!)

#12 - Blue Moon breakfast - many separate times I'm sure but there was that great snow day that the gym was closed so Kent, Kate, Mo and Sara walked many many steps in the heavy heavy snow just for a fantastic breakfast at the Blue Moon. Yummy.

#15 -Resurrection Ale - Julie, Sara & Heather had fun in Mt. Vernon - first stop Brewers Art where we happily drank one (ok - maybe more than one) of these potent beers.

#17 - Thrashers Fries - some did this. Alas, I did not. Update us?

#18 - Black Eyed Susan at the Preakness - several of us all went to the Preakness separately but I hope all tasted this original drink. Much more fun wearing a cool hat (sorry Kent!)

#22 - Rheb's buttercreams - Yum. And yes please.

#26 - Fishers popcorn - see #17

#29 - Pumpkin appetizer at Helmond. After the ale, Heather, Julie & Sara filled our stomachs with this not to be missed dish. Will go back anytime for seconds!!

#30 - Wockenfuss caramel apple - good thing we cut this into pieces at the kickoff party or we all would have needed dental work!

#31 - Thin crust pizza at Iggies - Jeff, Heather and Sara (and special guest Abby) dined on this pizza before a centerstage show. The pizza was amazing. The show not so much.

#32 - Taharka Bros ice cream - Heather and Sara couldn't resist this treat at Flower Mart. Still dreaming of the mocha chip...

#38 - Mac & Cheese & Chocolate at Jacks Bistro - Kickoff party post celebration. "real" food after loads of sweets (but wait, isn't that kind of sweet with the chocolate too? Theme for the night!)

#46 - Flower Mart - Decided to forego the crabcake from Biddle Street (too many in this town) but the lemon peppermint stick was absolutely worth it! Undescribable.

#59 - Prime Rib - Amazing meal with the best people ever!!! Love restaurant week.

#60 - Greenberg Potato Skins - too good and something I don't think we ever would have ordered without the list. Prime Rib was a wonderful night!

#61 - Samos - Cathy, Tresa, Donya, Tim, Heather, Sara, Kate & Kent went to Greektown for this amazing dinner. Still remembering it. Who wants to go again?

#72 - Otterbein's cookies - Excellent!

#78 - Wockenfuss candies - At kickoff. Good, but not Rhebs.

#83 - Garlic Fries at Brewers Art - it washed down the resurrection ale very well (or was it the other way around?)

#89 - Old bay on things other than seafood - Kickoff party. Coleslaw'd old bay was definitely different!!

#90 - Hubcap margarita - Always the sign of a good night when you can't really remember who drank from the hubcap! Cathy? Doug? Sara. I know more of you were there - sorry! It was a good night wasn't it?

#91 - Clipper City Brewery Tour - Liz, Linwood, Gautam, Heather, Sara, and Donya went on the brewery tour. I'm not sure the building has recovered from certain shrieks.

Yes we are off pace. Yes we have a long way to go. But, yes we can still do this thing if we motivate now. OK now I'm sounding like an infomercial. But, let's motivate team!! Who's in????
